For the first time in the Group’s history, we’re having a break over the summer holidays.
While the majority of our members have still been meeting virtually over the last few months, during the lockdown and as restrictions have eased, we’ve decided that we’re going to be taking a break from our virtual programme over the summer holiday to give everyone a chance to recharge their batteries.
We’ve been working behind the scenes putting our return-to-Scouting plans in action, compiling our risk assessments and looking at ways in which we can get our members meeting again. The Scouts have put together a framework that will help us get back together safely, and we’re currently within the Amber readiness phase, and we’re planning for a return to face-to-face Scouting in outdoor settings, from September.
Over the next few weeks, we’ll be making sure that everything’s ready for our return in September, getting everyone’s records up to date, and contacting all of our parents and responsible adults to get their consent for the return.
We’re also planning a light expedition for our Scouts who are looking to complete their Expedition Challenge, taking cues from the Duke of Edinburgh Award programme, so that we can help them complete the necessary requirements for their Chief Scout’s Gold Award.
So, we all wish you well, hope you enjoy your summer, and look forward to seeing you all again in September!
