Our Meeting Place
Our Meeting Place
Holy Cross Church Communinity Centre, BillesleyAt Billesley Scouts, our home is the Holy Cross Church Community Centre, nestled in the heart of Billesley at 29 Beauchamp Road, B13 0NS. It’s more than just a building - it’s where friendships form, adventures begin, and skills for life take root.
Each week, the hall comes alive with the spirit of adventure as our Squirrels, Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, and Explorers gather. From craft sessions and skill-building challenges to games, badge work, and planning for camps, everything starts here. It’s the heartbeat of our group, where young people come together to learn, play, and grow.
Inside and Facilities
The main hall is a bright, welcoming space where the whole group can come together. It’s large enough to accommodate full sessions, making it perfect for games, team activities, and badge work. In addition to the main hall, there are smaller rooms ideal for crafts, quiet activities, and focused skill-building sessions. The centre also has a kitchen and refreshment area, perfect for preparing snacks or drinks for young people and volunteers, along with toilets, including accessible facilities, to ensure everyone’s comfort. We also have storage for Scout gear, keeping equipment safe and ready for each session, and access to outdoor space for fresh air, games, and outdoor learning when the weather allows.

Rules and expectations
Keeping everyone safe, happy and includedWhen you arrive at the Holy Cross Community Centre, please use the main entrance doors on Beauchamp Road. Leaders will be there in the foyer greet young people and guide them into the hall. Parents and carers are welcome to wait in the foyer during drop-off and pick-up, but we ask that all children are collected promptly at the end of their section’s meeting. For everyone’s safety, we only release young people to their parent, guardian, or an agreed responsible adult.
To get the most out of meetings, young people should come prepared. Please wear Scout uniform if you have it, and bring a water bottle, a coat for outdoor activities, and, if needed, a small snack. Everything else will be provided by the group.
At Billesley Scouts, we have simple behaviour expectations: respect for each other, respect for leaders, and respect for the space we share. Our leaders are trained to create a safe, welcoming environment for every child, following the Scouts’ safeguarding guidelines at all times. This means encouraging kindness, teamwork, and positive behaviour, while stepping in if issues arise to make sure everyone feels supported.
We also continue to be mindful of health and wellbeing. If your child is unwell, please keep them at home until they’re fully recovered. Hand-washing, good hygiene, and a safe environment are part of our routine, and we’ll follow any wider guidance if needed. Above all, our aim is to make sure every young person feels safe, included, and ready to enjoy the adventure.
