Role Description
Find out more about the Explorer Team Leader position.
What does the Explorer team do?
The Explorer team guides young people through some of the most transformative years of their Scouting journey. They create a space where teenagers can test their independence, explore who they’re becoming, build confidence, and gather the skills that will carry them far beyond Billesley. Through camps, community projects, leadership opportunities, and adventurous challenges, the team helps every Explorer grow into someone braver, kinder, and ready for the world ahead.
What would I do?
As an Explorer team member, you’d stand alongside young people as they take on bigger adventures. You’d help plan and run weekly sessions, support young leaders, guide Explorers through awards like DofE and the Chief Scout’s Platinum/ Diamond, and lend a calm hand during camps and events. You’d be a role model, a steady presence, and a friendly adult who helps them step forward with confidence – week after week, moment by moment.
Get inspired. Inspire others.

Great reasons to volunteer
You don’t need to be Bear Grylls to volunteer with Scouts – we’ve already got him as our Chief Scout – but if you're a smiler, an inspirer, an activity planner, a great tea-maker, the best sandwich-maker in Warwick, or a really good all rounder, then you could be amazing for Scouts, and Scouts could be amazing for you.
Here are just some of the amazing reasons:
- Share your experience and skills with young people while developing yourself
- Have fun and meet new people in the area
- Inspire a generation (who will never forget what you did for them)
We’ll give you a warm welcome, make sure that you have all the support you need, give you access to easy-to-understand training and resources online, and the flexibility to get involved in a way that works for you.
At Scouts, every week is different, amazing and rewarding - for everyone that takes part.
