St. George’s Activity Day at Blackwell Adventure

We joined scouts from all sections across the district and celebrated St. George’s Day at Blackwell Adventure with adventurous activities, fun and teamwork.

A wide selection of Scouts from each of our sections took part in a fantastic activity day at Blackwell Adventure to celebrate St. George’s Day. It was filled with fun, learning, teamwork and adventurous activities for our Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers.

St. George’s Day holds a special place on the Scouting calendar. As the patron saint of Scouting, St. George symbolises bravery, integrity and the spirit of helping others, and Scouts all around the world celebrate the values embodied by St. George and reminds us of the promise we make as Scouts.

Our day began with a reaffirmation of our Scout Promise and set us up for a fantastic day ahead. Our friends at Cole Valley South District put on a great day and organised some incredible activities, including bridge building, climbing, orienteering, grass sledding. Some of our Cubs were lucky enough to experience a controlled free-fall on the fan descender, as they climbed up to the top of the platform and jumped off, safely helped to the ground by their harness.

It was amazing to see some of our young people, some of whom were taking part in their first adventurous activity day, have such a great time.

Our thanks again go to our friends at Cole Valley South for putting on such a great day and, as ever, our incredible volunteers for making the day possible for our young people.
