Role Description
Squirrel Scout Parent Helper
What does this team do?
Our Parent Helpers give the Squirrel team an extra pair of hands when they’re needed. From helping prepare activities to supporting meetings and events, they help make sure our youngest Scouts have a great experience.
It’s a simple way to get involved in Scouting without taking on a full volunteer role, while also getting to see what your young person gets up to each week.
What would I do?
There’s no fixed list of jobs. You might help set up before a meeting, support an activity, help keep things organised during the evening or lend a hand with tidying up afterwards.
You can get involved as much or as little as works for you. If you have a particular skill or something you enjoy doing, there may be opportunities to put that to good use too.
What would I need?
You don’t need any Scouting experience or specialist skills. Being reliable, positive and willing to get involved is what matters most. We’ll let you know what’s needed and make sure you’re supported.
How much time would I need?
This is designed to be flexible around your other commitments. Even helping occasionally can make a real difference, so there’s no expectation that you’ll be available every week.

Great reasons to volunteer
Here are just some of the amazing reasons:
- Share your experience and skills with young people while developing yourself
- Have fun and meet new people in the area
- Inspire a generation (who will never forget what you did for them)
We’ll give you a warm welcome, make sure that you have all the support you need, give you access to easy-to-understand training and resources online, and the flexibility to get involved in a way that works for you.
At Scouts, every week is different, amazing and rewarding - for everyone that takes part.
